Guilford Historical Society Float Takes 1st Place by Wilma Felton-GrayThe Guilford Historical Society entered a float in the Chenango County Fair Parade on August 6th. The theme of the parade was "American Traditions" and Guilford Historical Societies theme followed right along with "Guilford Olde Tyme Traditions". The float was put together on a small trailer and the society also utilized the bed of the towing pick-up truck to complete the scene. On the float were Steve and Susan Booth as Dr. and Mrs. Clark. Dr. Clark was the first doctor in Guilford. Tina Pabst represented an early school teacher. Gert Pierce-Boyd took on the role of the recorder of Guilford history, while Wilma Felton-Gray portrayed an early homemaker. Tom Gray, Guilford Town Historian, and Guilford Historical Society members, Carl Olsen and Francine Bauer were riding on the back of the truck driven by Burt Blackman. Also featured on the float was a replica of the O&W engine and cars made by Geri Haynes and Gert Pierce-Boyd. As a result of the imagination and hard work of the Guilford Historical Society and the organization and ingenuity of Gert-Pierce Boyd, GHS president, the float took first place!
